Mike Patriarca(guitar) and Tom Long(saxophone) had been in a band called Big Dog Lovin' and the lead singer died. They tried some instrumental stuff for a while. The name The Blue Method actually existed before I met them. Anyway, we met and we started what REALLY is The Blue Method in 2001. Dirty Dan Schram and David Duffin were the bass player and drummer. A disagreement resulted in their exit in the summer of 2004 when Kill the Music Vol.1 was nearly complete. Theron Shelton had been a friend to us all since he'd been the drummer for Echo Face, the band that Dan was the bass player for until he decided he wanted to be in The Blue Method. It took some prodding and playing shows with other drummers, but eventually Theron was on board. We then needed a bass player. Tom knew Mark Dappallone from the Philly scene. He was often a bass player with the Burn Down Allstars and front man of his own band, the former Mortal Men. He wanted to be in a jam band, but after his first show with us, all that went out the window. "Dapp" wanted to be in a band with a singer. Things went like that for a while with Dapp on bass. Luke O'Reilly joined the band on keys, pulling double duty on tenor sax. We bought the FUNK BUS and starting touring (Simon Says Booking) the eastern sea board and gaining a pinch of notoriety. We've been as far west as Montana, as far north as the U.P. in Michigan - The U.P. or upper peninsula is a part of Michigan that sticks up into Canada. Yea, its COLD!!! - and as far south, unfortunately, as North Carolina. That'll change though. We'll hit the deep south, more of the midwest and the west coast. Gabe Johnson split from Simon Says Booking and formed In The Pocket Artists. We went with Gabe. Flash to 2006. Luke O'Reilly had left the band. He continues to be a friend to us all, lending his skills to Kill the Music Vol.2 and some of our live shows as well. See him on Myspace. After some CRAZY ish went down...Dapp quit the band. I'm not gonna talk about that. I will say that a woman was involved though. That was a crazy time. No shows. Low on cash. No shows. No shows. Tom began playing bass and we had a cool time for a second, but it wasn't The Blue Method. No saxophone? C'mon. So, Theron said he knew a guy. Rah M Sungee showed up at the jam session and when it was over, we asked him to play the next gig with us before his pathfinder made it to the end of the street. So we were a 5 man unit again. And that's the way its been since the beginning of 2007. Next, I'm praying its the will of God that The Blue Method become an internationally touring band that can provide a comfortable living for our families by making CDs and continuing to tour.
